Practice opportunity for psychodynamically/analytically minded clinicians (social workers, licensed psychoanalysts, mental health counselors, and marriage and family therapists – and LMSWs and those with limited permits).
Union Square Psychotherapy is an incubator for therapists looking to establish their own private practices, either independently or within our group. We provide unusually competitive pay and benefits, as well as high-quality psychoanalytically oriented supervision.
Qualifications
Characteristics of the people we seek:If you are BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and/or non-binary, and/or if you provide therapy in a language other than English, we are especially eager to hear from you.
Degree/licensure: MSW, MHC, MFT, and LP (those with licenses and those with limited permits are welcome).
Practice experience: At least one year providing psychotherapy in a group practice or clinic setting strongly preferred.
Experience as a patient: We all are in our own treatment, and we expect you to be. A major part of what we offer our patients/clients is the certainty that their clinicians themselves are engaged critically in the process of self-examination.
Interest and/or background in psychoanalytic work: All of us are, to greater or lesser degrees, analytic in our thinking. Psychoanalysts and analysts-in-training provide all supervision. If your background is in CBT/DBT, and lacks a psychodynamic foundation, and/or if you aren’t interested in deepening your analytic thinking, we probably are not the right place for you.
Entrepreneurial mindset: We don’t accept insurance, and we don’t commit to filling your practice; rather, we provide you a venue in which you will develop your practice.
Self-reliance: Union Square Psychotherapy is not a clinic; it is a group practice. We provide administrative support and guidance, but, ultimately, if you join us, you will run your own practice within our group.
